Dog Bites
Under Ohio law the owner, keeper, or harborer of a dog is strictly liable for harm caused by the dog. If you are hurt by a dog, bitten or otherwise, the owner is strictly liable for your injuries. It is not necessary to show that the owner acted negligently or did anything wrong. It is only necessary to show that they owned the dog and that the dog harmed you. Likewise, the keeper or harborer of the dog may also be liable. There are exceptions to strict liability. For instance, if the person harmed was a trespasser or if the person was teasing or tormenting the dog, the owner, keeper or harborer may not be strictly liable for the harm caused.
